Smart captures
A smart capture is a voice capture that Snag found at least one action in: something you said you need to do. Each action keeps the words it came from.
How actions are found
By default the iPhone finds them itself, with nothing sent anywhere. A sentence becomes an action when:
- it starts with a to-do phrase, such as "remind me to", "don't forget to", "remember to", "I need to", "I have to", "I must", "I should", "we need to", "need to" or "todo"; or
- it starts with a doing word, such as call, ring, email, text, send, buy, book, pay, order, check, ask, tell, fix, write, update, chase, review, renew, cancel, schedule, arrange, pick, get, follow, reply, post, file, invoice, add, move, sort or clean.
The rest of the sentence becomes the action's title, for example "I need to call the garage about the MOT" becomes "Call the garage about the MOT". An action needs at least two words after the to-do phrase, or a doing word and at least one more word. Titles over 120 characters are cut short.
To use your own model instead, open Settings > Voice > AI and speech > Actions from a capture and choose Your own model. If your model does not answer, Snag finds the actions on the iPhone and says "Your model didn't answer, so actions were found on this iPhone." See Bring your own.
Only voice captures are searched for actions. Typed notes and tasks are not.
Where actions go

Only captures where actions were found count. A capture with no actions is free and does not count.
The count shows under the capture card after each smart capture, for example "12 of 30 this month" with "Resets 1 Nov", and always in Settings > Plan: "12 of 30 smart captures, resets 1 Nov".
The nudge
The capture that makes 25 in a month shows a card once that month: "5 smart captures left this month", with See Pro and OK.
At the cap
After 30 in a month, captures are still saved and sent as usual. Only the action list waits: the capture goes without its actions until the 1st.
- The first time this happens in a month a card shows: "Actions are paused until 1 Nov", "Unlimited actions with Pro", the offer (for example "Try Pro free for 2 weeks, then £6.99 a month. Cancel any time in your Apple account."), a Try Pro free button, Not now, and "Your words are saved and sent as usual. Only the action list waits."
- After that, a short line: "Actions are paused until 1 Nov."
- Hands-free, Siri and the car say "Snagged. Actions are back next month, or with Pro." Nothing is sold by voice.
